Background: Jimbo and Mo watched it as kids. Drew, on the other hand, was forbidden to watch.
60 Sec Summary: Al Bundy is a pretty unhappy dude. his kids don’t appreciate him, his wife ignores him, the customers at his store walk all over him (pun its a shoe store) and just when things look up for Al, going to the bulls game, his wife stops him in his tracks because they have to hang out with the neighbors that night. Al braves the not dinner (bad neighbors) and somehow ends up back on the couch with his wife.Though he doesn’t get the Bulls game, he gets lucky.
High Points: Peggy, Ed O’neil, and relationship dynamics.
Low Points: Drew didn’t find it funny or clever. Jimbo hated Luke the creep at the shoe store. Mo saw the lack of diversity in the diverse Chi Town.
Crabman Award: by split decision Buck.
MVPs: Peggy, the theme song, and framing the POV through Al.
Dangling Threads of Interest: Super dangled apparently controversial Marcy/liberals/sports discussion. Drew saw the hatred between baby boomers and millennials. Then we touched paid vs unpaid work.
Watch or Rewatch: Jimbo would like to, and Mo said next year. Drew was a strong no.

I always thought that the one thing your show lacked was that you never comment on the future of the show, the progression of the characters. How you can hoist a show that last for years. They do not call me The Spoiler for nothing. The more you watch Married with Children, the more you realize that you have a Al Bundy life.
I grew up and was a witness to Bundy Families. I know families today that the husband feels like Al Bundy, complains about his life, his job and how his family always needs money but show him no respect. If you continue to watch Married with Children you will see the development of Al, Peggy, Kelly, Bud and Steve and continue to not like Marcy.

Great podcast, though I didn’t agree with everything you said like Steve and Marcy being Wishy Washy, Is not every couple a little Wishy Washy the first year of their relationship? Can you say you were never Wishy Washy a time or two in your life?
I do not think Al is a male chauvinist just because he can tell when a large woman comes in the shoe store they are going to wear a size seven shoe.
I have known a lot of women who may not have been the best housewife or spent a lot of time with their husband and children, but always had time for finger nails, hair and cloths.
If Drewbert’s parents thought Married with children was too hard core for him to watch, I wonder what they would think of the TV shows he watches now. All most all tv shows now a days have too much explicit sex or violence that have nothing to add to the plot, rated R or X shows like Scandal, Empire, Gotham, and many more, all are prime time series on regular tv ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.

I think people seeing themselves in Al and Peggy is what makes the show great. It didn’t connect for Drew, but I agree there are plenty of Bundy families out there. And a lot for a viewer today to appreciate.
We don’t give a crap about post pilot development!

Steve and Marcy were wishy washy, but I’d call that a high point because we all have been there, and it’s funny.
Maybe Al wasn’t a chauvinist (he had a few comments, but like everything it’s subjective), but the perspective of the show was male chauvinistic. That frame was my MVP because it captures a time and place in history. Today, it might come off a lot worse if it was a new show.
