I really LOVED this pilot. I thought Reese Witherspoon rocked it with this character. I thought they chose well for the actresses that played both of her daughters as they really matched and played of her personalities like Drew mentioned. It was just so cool to see the big 4 actors in this one. Low point for me was the teacher’s acting when she tried to settle the discrepancy with the girl student and the marks on her neck. I think this could have been a lot stronger scene and pivot in the pilot, but lacked some of the depth I think it was going for. The foreshadowing of the abuse of the child to the abuse by the husband of Nicole Kidmann was interesting…as is to the murder of whoever’s “next”. Yikes!
I loved the info on the Bechdel Test. Maybe you guys have mentioned it before in previous podcasts, but it was my first time hearing about it with such strong female leads. I adore Shailene Woodsley, but couldn’t quite figure out the purpose of her character here which made me anticipate the next episode.
Overall, one of my favorite pilots so far! So, Mo watched whole series, Drew is not going to continue- Jimbo, are you continuing? I vote YeS for me!!!! Thanks guys!
